Birdseye Launching Ramp & Fishing Pier

The Birdseye Dock, situated at the eastern end of Birdseye Street, provides the primary access to the river for people who want to launch a boat from a trailer (after purchasing a town launching sticker). The local Coast Guard Auxilliary is also located on this site as well as a small concession stand.

Bond's Dock

Stratford Avenue and Shore Road, Stratford, CT

Bond's Dock is a very popular fishing spot and area for viewing the Housatonic River and Nell's Island. Some parking is available on the wharf. To help you reach Bond's Dock, some routes leading to this site are posted with the brown and white Long Island Sound Access sign. From the East: Take I-95 South to exit 32. Make a left onto Linden Avenue. Turn left onto West Broad Street and you will pass through one roundabout. Turn right onto Route 113/Main Street. Take a left onto Stratford Avenue. When Stratford Avenue turns into Shore Road Bond's Dock is on the left. From the West: Take I-95 North to exit number 32. Take the ramp to the Railroad Station. Turn slight right onto Beardsley Avenue. Then make a left onto Stratford Avenue. When Stratford Avenue turns into Shore Road Bond's Dock is on the left.

Canal Road Water Access Area

Canal Road and Cockenoe Drive, Westport, CT

Visitors to the Canal Road Water Access Area may fish, shellfish (restrictions may apply, see shellfishing hyperlink below) and bird watch at this small Town parklet. To help you reach Canal Road Water Access Area, some routes leading to this site are posted with the brown and white Long Island Sound Access sign.From the East: Take I-95 South. Take the Route 33 exit 17 to Route 136/Westport/Saugatuck and continue 0.21 miles. Turn right onto Saugatuck Avenue/Route 33. Continue to follow Saugatuck Avenue and continue 1.15 miles. Turn left onto Duck Pond Road and continue 0.34 miles. Turn left onto Harbor Road and continue 0.02 miles. Turn left onto Harbor Road and continue 0.68 miles. Turn right onto Canal Road and follow it to the end (where it meets Cockenoe Drive). From the West: Take I-95 North. Take the Route 136 exit 17 to Route 33/Westport/Saugatuck and continue 0.27 miles. Turn slight left onto Saugatuck Avenue/Route 136. Continue to follow Saugatuck Avenue for 0.41 miles. Saugatuck Avenue becomes Route 33 and continue 1.62 miles. Turn right onto Route 57/Canal Street/Kings Highway North. Continue to follow Route 57/Canal Street to the end (where it meets Cockenoe Drive).

Compo Colonial Cemetery

Compo Beach Road, Westport, CT

Compo Colonial Cemetery fronts a tidal river and a bench is provided for visitors. Trails and walkways suit the purpose for bird and wildlife observation. Fishing is also permitted at this site. Compo Colonial Cemetery has historic and cultural interest.  From the East: Take I-95 South to exit 18 to Sherwood Island State Park and continue 0.16 miles. Take the ramp to US-1/Westport and continue 0.09 miles. Take Sherwood Island Connector/Route 476 North and continue 0.19 miles. Turn left onto Greens Farms Road and continue 1.65 miles. Turn left onto Compo Road South and continue 0.88 miles. Turn slight right onto Compo Beach Road. From the West: Take I-95 North. Take the Route 136 exit 17 to Route 33/Westport/Saugatuck and continue 0.27 miles. Turn slight left onto Saugatuck Avenue/Route 136. Continue to follow Route 136 for 0.37 miles. Turn right onto Bridge Street/Route 136 and continue 0.50 miles. Turn right onto Compo Road South for 0.88 miles. Turn slight right onto Compo Beach Road. On street parking.

Southfield Harbor

Southfield Avenue, Stamford, CT

Southfield Harbor at the Avalon Bay condominiums provides an excellent fishing pier and extensive walkways providing excellent views of Southfield Harbor. This coastal access facility is adjacent to the condominiums on Southfield Avenue. Designated parking spaces are provided for the public to access this site. From the East: Take I-95 South to exit 7. Make a right onto Canal Street. Turn left onto Tresser Boulevard, follow for 0.5 miles. Make another left onto Greenwich Avenue. Continue on Greenwich Avenue which will become Southfield Avenue. Southfield Harbor is located on the left when Southfield Avenue crosses McClurg Avenue. From the West: Take I-95 North to exit 7. Make a right onto Greenwich Avenue which will become Southfield Avenue. Southfield Harbor is located on the left when Southfield Avenue crosses McClurg Avenue.
