The Center for Contemporary Printmaking in Norwalk on West Ave. has announced its summer gallery show called FootPrint. FOOTPRINT 2018 is an opportunity for the presentation of current trends and innovations in contemporary printmaking within the boundaries of the one square foot (12" x 12") configuration. This year's juror, Susan Tallman, Editor-in-Chief at Art in Print and Adjunct Associate Professor Art History, Theory and Criticism at School of the Art Institute of Chicago, reviewed 319 prints from 166 artists representing eighteen countries. Tallman selected eighty-three works from eighty-three artists representing twenty-three states and thirteen countries. First Prize: Cleo Wilkinson, Then III, Mezzotint print, Second Prize: Mike Sonnichsen, Dyadic #5 (from the 12×12 series), Relief print, Third Prize: Meaghan Morrow, Last Call, Silk aquatint and chine collé and the Awagami Paper Award: Victoria Varner, Crossed Paths: Eight Directions, Engravings on gampi papers.
Founded in 1995, the Center for Contemporary Printmaking (a 501(c) (3) organization) was established to support and encourage serious emerging and professional artists in the creation of original prints and to educate the community to a better understanding and appreciation of prints and the process of printmaking. It offers both an historic and contemporary view of printmaking, encouraging traditional techniques as well as modern technologies.
