Presented in conjunction with the Sherwood Island State Park Nature Center, these live animal programs will explore the little-known world of these prehistoric survivors and introduce families to beautiful and endangered reptiles from around the world. The program will feature some of history's most unusual frauds and myths, including the astounding story of P.T. Barnum's Cardiff Giant. Why are archaeological frauds so common? Why are they so successful? How can you pull off a successful archaeological humbug? Archaeologist Ken Feder addresses these issues and more in his upcoming lecture at the Barnum.

On September 5, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. the Norwalk Summmer Music Series continues with Classic Car Show – This gathering of than 100 vehicles is hosted by the Coachmen Rod and Custom Club, an organization of men and women who enjoy classic cars. Owners of 1981 and older cars can participate in the shows, which attract owners from throughout the tri-state area. Each car show participant is asked to contribute canned food or make a donation to the St. Vincent De Paul food bank. 7:00 p.m.    Déjà Vu – For ten years, this popular group has been performing "golden oldies" at events from New Haven to New York.  The group includes

Learn about Long Island Sound from our scientists in the Harbor Watch water quality monitoring program and examine marine animals in touch tanks provided by both Harbor Watch and Sherwood Island Nature Center. On Saturday 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Rain Date:  9/9 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. An afternoon of fun with friends and neighbors at the first annual Taste of Easton.. All are invited to gather together with neighbors and friends to help close out summer, welcome autumn and partake in a menu of delicious foods that highlight our town’s native ingredients. The menu, which uses fresh, locally-grown-and-raised ingredients, includes Build-A-Burger with fixings from Easton farmers, the one and only Easton Veggie Burger, a one-of-a-kind Easton Tomato Salad, corn on the cob, Home-Town Tea and grilled dogs made to order.  Those with a sweet tooth can finish it all off with ice cream made especially for Easton! Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy live music by local groups including The Wonderful Trio, guitarist and vocalist Dan Blaze, Dan Tressler and a JBHS student group.   An entertaining duo of MC’s will highlight the day’s activities, give away door prizes and present a bit of trivia about Easton and its farms.  Door prizes include gift baskets from local businesses, an original farm print from an Easton artist, a Christmas Tree from Maple Row Farm, an orchid from J&L Orchids and much more.Young attendees can get creative with children’s crafts led by both the Easton Girl Scouts and Young at Art by Sue Striker.  Easton Park and Rec will have their bounce house set up and the Easton Community Center will direct a variety of games on the baseball diamond.Proceeds from the event will be donated toward the purchase of a portable defibrillator for the Easton Senior Center.
