Fairfield Museum and History Center Bike Tour: Getting Buried in Fairfield

9:30 - 12:30. Cyclists will explore the history of Fairfield and get some exercise and fresh air at the same time! Participants should meet in front of the Fairfield Museum by 9:15 a.m. for orientation, departing promptly at 9:30 a.m., returning along one of Fairfield's designated bike routes by noon. The journey begins with a stop at the Old Burying Ground on Beach Road where the town's oldest identifiable grave marker dating back to 1687 is located. Cyclists will continue to the Fairfield East Cemetery on Old Post Road and the West Cemetery on Post Road near South Pine Creek Road. The group will then travel in a northerly direction past two more cemeteries and Sturges Park, a former cemetery, before heading up the Bronson Road hill to Greenfield Hill Cemetery now under restoration near the historic Frederic Bronson Windmill. The tour is open to cyclists age 14 and older who wear helmets and are capable of completing the ride. Cyclists not wishing to pedal up the Bronson Road hill to the Greenfield Hill Cemetery can opt out at the halfway point, where there will be an energy bar snack and rest stop at the Ogden House outside of Oak Lawn Cemetery, another stop on the tour. Members: $5 per person; Non-Members: $8 per person. Wilton Historical Society Things That Go Bump in the Night . . . Ghost Night

When night settles on creaky old buildings during the scariest time of the year, you never know what you may bump into . . . ! This spooky evening for kids ages 8 – 12 will take place on Saturday, October 21, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at the Wilton Historical Society. During a candlelight walk through the dimly lit period rooms, and up and down groaning stairs of the 1740 Betts House and the 1772 Fitch House, kids will hear stories of the families who lived there. They will wend their way to the Burt Barn, where deep in the darkest chamber they will hear classic scary Halloween stories told in the dark. The evening will conclude with games, cider and donuts. Halloween costumes are optional. Parents may drop their kids off, but they are invited to linger enjoy a glass of hard cider while waiting. Registration required. Hike to Old Mine Park. Meet at the park. 10 am - 12:30 pm. Old Mine Park is a 1.1 mile loop trail located near Trumbull, Connecticut that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from January until November. The Old Mine Park Archaeological Site is a historic site in the Long Hill, Trumbull, Connecticut section of Trumbull, Connecticut. It was mined from 1828 to 1920 and during 1942-1946, and has been incorporated in a municipal park.
