Photo lithography allows the opportunity to explore a wide variety of mark making in this contemporary lithographic process. Participants will learn to combine both photo and analog forms of imagery with the use of digital output onto transparency film, as well as a variety of drawing materials on frosted mylar. This 2-weekend workshop will cover how to create these different type of film positives, both digital and hand drawn, exposing and developing the plate, and how to print and edition using a litho or etching press. (Prior knowledge of printmaking processes is helpful.)

3-4:30 pm. Join us for a special behind-the-scenes look at our Maple Syrup operation and help with some of the daily tasks that go into turning sap into syrup. Help collect sap and measure how much sugar is in it, learn to use an auger to drill tap holes, tour the sugar bush, and more! Observe the process of turning sap into syrup with the evaporator and do a taste test of the different grades to see which one you prefer. We'll end our program with a special treat featuring the SM&NC's very own maple syrup! Limited enrollment. Recommended for ages 6 and up. Members: $5 | Non-Members: $8.

Learn how the upflow of sap allows us to make maple syrup in our sugarhouse, investigate the science behind catapults as we launch things into the air, and make your own mini catapults to take home. Discover the winter birds in our area and make a recycled bird feeder to take home. Explore the winter constellations in our night sky in our planetarium, create some great crafts, and end the day with vanilla ice cream topped with our own maple syrup!
