Just in time for Halloween, "Shock" is the topic for the Greenwich Historical Society's next Story Barn oral history performance. Don't miss this chance to hear a very special roster of raconteurs share startling tales of horror, surprise and joy.   Sit back, relax, enjoy some refreshments and hear real-life stories that will inspire, delight and prompt you to consider the quirks of the human condition. They will demystify these amazing creatures and help families to cross the line from fear to respect and appreciation. Meet Animal Ambassadors - Okeechobee the American alligator, Amazonia the Anaconda, an owl, and more "spooktacular" animals. Space is limited for our Outdoor Adventures programs. 5-8:30pm. Cost: $40/family and $20/individual. Pre-registration required. Enjoy a hayride, flashlight scavenger hunt through the woods, night rafting on our lake, s'mores by the fire, and meet Atka, a real live wolf from the Wolf Conservation Center.
Hours: Families can register to arrive at 5, 5:30, 6, 6:30 pm. The wolf presentation will take place from 6:45-7:30 pm for both sessions. Those coming earlier will be able to leave after the wolf presentation while those arriving later will be able to stay and do most of the other activities afterwards.

Performance begins at 7:30 pm. Staged in a cabaret-like setting, Story Barn is a creative approach to oral history that puts a contemporary spin on good, old-fashioned storytelling. Storytellers will focus on events in their personal experience that produced emotions of horror, surprise or joy. The theme is in keeping with our fall exhibition's theme, The New Spirit and the Cos Cob Art Colony: Before and After the Armory Show, an event notable for the display of "shocking" (at the time) works of European art that influenced countless American artists.
