At age 16, after recording his first 45, Karp began touring internationally with Miles and contributed an original song to the band's renowned Them Changes album. He opened for Jimi Hendrix at The Forum in Los Angeles and for Three Dog Night at the Cotton Bowl, recorded with Arthur Lee, and got his own record contract with RCA Records as the co-founder of White Chocolate with David Hull – all before age 20. The show is more than a concert. It's also an inside look at what happened when the music business moved from 45s to albums, and from small concert venues to dedicated rock clubs, arenas, and then stadiums. $15.

Avon Theatre Cult Classics: THE WARRIORS (1979)

272 Bedford St, Stamford, CT Phone: 203-967-3660.

8:30 pm. Director Walter Hill's hip, super-stylized action film unfurls in a dystopian near-future, when various gangs control New York City. Each gang sports a unique moniker ('The Warriors', 'The Baseball Furies', 'The Rogues'), with a costume underscoring its "theme"; each, in turn, is also responsible for one geographic area. Hill sets up the landscape as a massive, violent playground - replete with bridges, vacant subway tunnels, parks, abandoned buildings and the like, all ripe for exploration and adventure. As the tale opens, The Warriors have traveled to the Bronx to attend a city-wide meeting of all gangs; at that event, however, the psychotic leader of a rival gang, The Rogues (David Patrick Kelly of Dreamscape) assassinates the head of the city's foremost gang, but The Warriors are pegged as culpable. This sends the gang fleeing through the labyrinthine city. With every thug in Manhattan in vicious, homicidal pursuit, they must also overcome all obstacles in their way. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi
