5 pm. True winter begins on December 21! On that day we'll have a full fifteen hours of darkness! Since June, the days have been getting shorter, but from now on, the reverse will be true. We'll stoke the fire pit, so bring your drum and other percussion instruments, and warm yourself with good fellowship. Ranger Dawn will lead us. FREE, but bring a canned food item for our local homeless shelter.

8 p.m. A week before actual Christmas Eve – on the 17th – GBS spends Christmas Eve in Paris with Rodolfo, Mimi, Marcello and Musetta, performing the concert version of La Boheme. The full GBS orchestra will be joined by the best-of-the-best of local youth musicians – members of the Greater Bridgeport Youth Orchestras (GBYO), who will play side-by-side with GBS professionals. Well over 100 musicians will take the stage, playing Puccini's familiar musical tale of starving artists in a garret, finding love on the streets of Paris on Christmas Eve. World-class soloists will sing the lead roles, and the evening will end with perennial holiday favorites.

Santa Visits the Weston Historical Society’s Coley House

Enjoy an old-fashioned Victorian Farmhouse Christmas when Santa Claus visits the Coley House at the Weston Historical Society on Sunday, Dec. 18th. Santa and his helper will be at the historical society's 1841 farmhouse from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. located at 104 Weston Road. The Coley house has been specially decorated by the Weston Garden Club to reflect Christmas's of the past. A photographer will be on hand to take pictures of children. Cookies will be served. Photos with Santa are free.

Explore issues impacting area birds and join our Naturalists in caring for the birds of Earthplace by decorating environments, making toys, or trimming beaks, among other activities.
