1-2pm. Participants will get to taste a variety of sushi as well as sake. Professional sushi chef and restaurant owner Sam Takahashi will demonstrate technique and provide the history of the food style. This program is being offered in relation to the current exhibition, An Eye to the East. Participants will be able to try a variety of sushi and sake, learn about the process of making these items and try to make a sushi roll themselves. Sam Takahasi is Chef and Owner of Hajime Japanese Restaurant in Harrison, NY. He first came to the US in 1985 to be a Sushi Chef and opened his restaurant in Harrison in January 1986. The name comes from his father's restaurant in Osaka, Japan and means beginning or start. He began his career at 15 to help support his family and trained in Hokkaido and Osaka. He believes that if you want your food to taste good you have to cook with your heart. Reservations are required as there is limited seating (max 30 ppl). Admission to the gallery and Bush-Holley House are included in the ticket.
