Feel the beat at a freewheeling and impromptu Jazz Jam on Sunday, February 7 at 3 p.m. at the Westport Arts Center. Enjoy the spontaneous exploration of jazz, blues and other musical styles by some of the community's most active musicians. Students and semi-professionals are encouraged to bring their instrument of choice and join for free. The Jazz Jam will also celebrate Black History Month and will feature a repertoire of jazz favorites.

February 7, 2016--FIGURE AND THE MONOTYPE with Paul DeRuvo--Sunday, 1pm-4pm. 1/2 day workshop, limited to 6.Participants in this workshop will work directly from a live model, working with printing inks in much the same manner as Degas. The work is then printed with the assistance of the instructor. Subsequent reworked impressions can also be pulled to achieve depth of color, or, as Degas frequently did, a second paler or ghost impression can be printed and used as ground for later additions. Find out how monotype can develop your drawing ability and inform your art-making practices. All Levels.  Call to register.

Get ready for the "super" MacChilifest.

MacChilifest will take place at Bedford Middle School in Westport CT on Sunday Feb. 7th from 11 a.m. to 3.p.m. The event is promoted as a pre-Super Bowl event because the Super Bowl is held later in the day. The big game doesn't kick off until close to 7pm; so instead of hanging around to go out or have friends come over, people come out in droves to judge the best chili and now mac 'n cheese in Fairfield County.  The event will have a tailgate vibe because attendees will come in their favorite team jersey. Some even put on eye black! Even the band from Sacred Heart University comes and pumps up the crowd in anticipation of the big game later that day.Tickets are available online  at as well as at the door. Adults are $15 and kids (6-12) are $5.
