This year, the "focus group" section will showcase the Ford. Henry Ford introduced the Model T in October, 1908 and mass production began at the Highland Park, Michigan, Assembly Plant in 1913. Fifty-one years later, on April 17, 1964, the Mustang burst onto the American car scene and Ford dealers took 22,000 orders in one day. On January 27, 1965, designer Carroll Shelby introduced the first Shelby Mustang, the GT350 in Wimbledon White. Only 562 GT350s were created by Shelby in 1965.
Model Ts to Mustangs will be co-curated by David Greenberg, of Stamford, and Kirsten Brophy, the Museum's curator of collections and exhibitions.
