Norwalk Seaport Association Cruise to Sheffield Island September

C.J. Toth catamaran for a cruise to the island then tour the lighthouse, observe wildlife in their natural habitat in the Stewart B. McKinney National Wildlife Refuge, hunt for shells along the beach, dine on a picnic lunch, play on the lawns around the lighthouse and just have a good time. The lighthouse is open to visitors for daily tours, however, the tower section of the lighthouse is closed for renovations. Your boat leaves from the Sheffield Island Lighthouse dock located at the corner of North Water Street and Washington Street in Historic South Norwalk. Parking is available adjacent to the dock and the Norwalk Maritime Center Garage. Reservations are not required but are strongly recommended. Round-trip ferry tickets are $25.00 adults ... $15.00 children ages 4-12 ... FREE children ages 3 and younger. Check website for dates and times. Most days the vessel goes out at 11 am, 2 pm and 5 pm. Tickets online or by phone. Reservations suggested.

Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk Marine Life Study Cruises

1 pm - 3:30 pm. Study marine biodiversity from the water's surface down to the bottom for a first-hand understanding of Long Island Sound's interdependent marine life. Participants utilize such sampling techniques as a plankton tow, biodredge, mud grab and otter trawl that may bring up fish, crabs, lobsters, sea stars and more. A video microscope and touch tank on board enhance observations.
