4:00 - 5:30 at the Wilton Historical Society In this second lecture of the 8th annual collaboration between the Wilton Library and the Wilton Historical Society on The Gilded Age: Culture and Conflict at the End of the 19th Century, Brent M. Colley will deliver a talk entitled: A Gilded Life: Mark Twain. Mark Twain's life is perceived by many as a 'charmed life' but the reality is the rags to riches story of the most widely recognized author/humorist the world has ever known is not as 'charmed' as one might think. Join us for a discussion of Mark Twain's life and the challenges he faced and overcame throughout the course of his lifetime. Brent Colley is a native of Redding and a Resident Scholar of Redding's Mark Twain Library. Now living in Sharon, he is President of the Sharon Historical Society and Sharon's First Selectman. He is an authority on Mark Twain and a popular speaker on Twain and on the history of this area of Connecticut.

3-4 pm. This very popular chocolate-making workshop for kids in grades K-8 will be held on Thursday, February 11 from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. While our colonial forefathers had to make do with a rather gritty version of our beloved hot chocolate, and no chocolate candies (they were not common until the mid-1800's), program participants will make something extra nice for their Valentine - delicious, professional-looking chocolates and an origami-style box to put them in! The fun and easy one-hour session will make use of an extensive collection of small, charming chocolate molds. Those who gather at the Wilton Historical Society on Thursday, February 11 will have an opportunity to try their hand at making molded chocolates for Valentine's Day: the evening will be even more enjoyable as wine and other beverages will be served. Beautiful, professional-looking molded chocolates will be made in approximately one hour, from 7:00 – 8:00 pm. The artisanal chocolate provided is very high quality and worthy of being savored by discerning sweethearts, and will make a lovely gift for that special someone. The vibrant radiance of Gerbier's three-octave range moves listeners as they experience her full-bodied strength and warmth. Even as a young child it was clear that Wendy had a natural gift for all things musical. So it is no surprise that this accomplished musician, composer and producer has established herself as a successful opera singer. Wendy's voice is a voice not to miss. This event is free and open to the public, but donations are encouraged. Reservations recommended.
