10 am - 3 pm Join the New Canaan Nature Center for Connecticut Trails Day on Saturday, June 4th from 10AM-3PM! Naturalists will be leading guided nature walks around our beautiful 44-acre property at 10am, 12pm and 2pm. Borrow a Discovery Pack (they have everything you need for your next BIG adventure!) and pick up a scavenger hunt or two at the Visitor Center for even more fun. You also won't want to miss FREE Birds of Prey Shows on the Green at 11am and 2pm. During these interactive programs, you'll get to meet raptors, like our Barn Owl and Red-shouldered Hawk, up close & personal. Meeting Place: Visitor Center of the New Canaan Nature Center. *Please park in the lower parking lot*

CT Trails Day - Monroe - Educational Walk


Fan Hill Rd., Monroe, CT

10- 11 am. Monroe's Park Ranger David Solek is the trail leader and provides commentary over a terrain suitable for all ages on a site that includes two old mineshafts, a landmark called Whale Rock and a variety of trees, ferns and wildflowers. Co-sponsors are the Monroe Parks and Recreation Department, the Monroe Land Trust and Tree Conservancy and the Monroe Conservation and Water Resources Commission. A good pair of athletic or hiking boots, a hat and insect repellent are suggested. Ample parking is available at the school lot. Registration is suggested but not required.  Meet at parking lot behind Chalk Hill School off Fan Hill Road.

CT Trails Day - Greenwich - Nature Walk

10 am and 1 pm. Come for an extensive guided nature walk through a combined Town and Greenwich Land Trust trail system! During this 2.5 mile hike visitors will enjoy one of the largest conservation areas in Greenwich and hear/see an array of plants and wildlife. Greenwich Land Trust staff will point out ecological and geological features of interest. Terrain is moderately technical with some steep and rocky sections. Bring sturdy shoes, a bottle of water, and protection from the sun and insects. meet at the Babcock Preserve parking area in Greenwich.

CT Trails Day - Larsen Sanctuary - Fairfield

10 am and 1 pm. Meet in the Connecticut Audubon Society Center at Fairfield Nature Store. The leisurely 1.5-mile journey will pass through the Connecticut Audubon Society's magnificent Larsen Sanctuary. We will discover a temperate deciduous forest, ponds, garden marsh, meadow, and swamp, while observing several bird habitats and ecological points of interest and discussing efforts to protect them. The varied terrain will be of easy to moderate difficulty. Wear sturdy footwear. Participants are also invited to visit the Connecticut Audubon Society's Center at Fairfield Nature Store—where we will offer 20% off field guides, walking sticks, and more.

Shakespeare on the Sound presents a new fundraiser, "ShakesBeer," under a big tent in Rowayton's Pinkney Park June 4 (Saturday) with live music provided by the six-piece rock and funk band "Miles." The event features a local home brew beer-tasting contest with at least 10 home brewers offering their crafts. In addition, Heineken is sponsoring a selection of eight different beers, including Heineken, La Gunitas, Dos Equis, Amstel Light and more. LobsterCraft and The Local Meatball will be in the park providing their fare from their trucks for cash or credit card. Additionally, the event includes live and silent auctions.
