Park Ranger Dave Solek leads a family- style nature walk over the Yellow Trail in Webb Mountain Park June 3 (Saturday) as part of National Trails Day in Connecticut. There is no charge to participate. The trail runs about a mile over wooded but undemanding terrain. Participants are asked to meet, rain or shine, at 9:45 a.m. at the second parking lot on Old Fish House Road off Webb Circle. They should equip themselves with mosquito and tick repellent, water bottles, sun hats and comfortable footwear.

Norwalk Seaport Association Cruise to Sheffield Island June

n June visitors can board the Seaport Association's 45-foot C.J. Toth catamaran for a cruise to the island then tour the lighthouse, observe wildlife in their natural habitat in the Stewart B. McKinney National Wildlife Refuge, hunt for shells along the beach, dine on a picnic lunch, play on the lawns around the lighthouse and just have a good time. The lighthouse is open to visitors for daily tours, however, the tower section of the lighthouse is closed for renovations. Your boat leaves from the Sheffield Island Lighthouse dock located at the corner of North Water Street and Washington Street in Historic South Norwalk. Parking is available adjacent to the dock and the Norwalk Maritime Center Garage. Reservations are not required but are strongly recommended. Round-trip ferry tickets are $25.00 adults ... $15.00 children ages 4-12 ... FREE children ages 3 and younger. Check website for dates and times. Most days the vessel goes out at 11 am, 2 pm and 5 pm.

Center for Contemporary Printmaking REDUCTION LINOLEUM BLOCK

This two-day workshop is an exploration into the process of reduction linoleum block printing. The process involves alternately carving and printing a single block to develop an image in overlapping layers of color. This process is great fun and yields exciting results, rich in color. Both hand and press printing will be available to participants, using water-soluble inks and Japanese paper. Each participant will complete a small edition made from 3 – 4 layers of color/passes of the block.
