10 N. Water Street, South Norwalk, CT Phone: (203) 852-0700 .

10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A jolly-roger day of pirate-themed fun is planned on Sept. 18 at The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk on the eve of International Talk Like A Pirate Day. John Baur and Mark Summers, two lubbers from Albany, N.Y., started International Talk Like A Pirate Day back in 1995 and the "holiday" was something of a low-key event until syndicated humor columnist Dave Barry latched on in 2002. Now, avast!, thar be people in 40 countries who celebrate International Talk Like A Pirate Day. On the 18th, scallywag visitors are encouraged to come to the Aquarium dressed in pirate garb. There will be a pirate-themed scavenger hunt and other activities, a pirate dunk tank (bing – "Aaaarr!" – splash) and songs for kids by Julie & Brownie. Aquarium educators will be a-mannin' a treasure chest and offerin' lore about the fine pirates who sailed the Long Island Sound.
