Learn about the types of owls that call Connecticut home and about some of the great adaptations that let them be such great nocturnal hunters. We'll head out into the woods to call for our resident Screech and Barred Owls and discover the ecology of these beautiful birds including their habitats, diets, and calls. On Sunday, November 11 there will be a lecture titled Living History: The Civil War Doctor's Wife at 2 pm that is co-sponsored with the daughters of the American Revolution..  The lecture will focus on the story of Dr. George Bronson, who marched off to war with the 11th Connecticut Volunteer Regiment and his wife, Mary Ann, comes to life. Mary Lou Pavlik assumes the role of her ancestor and shares observations of the War from a Northern lady's point of view and relates her husband's harrowing experiences through original letters. Meet filmmaker Jacob Steinberg and learn how satellite tracking is used to study osprey migration from top researcher Rob Bierregaard, learn from esteemed author Allen Poole, and other top raptor scientists. Watch previously unseen footage from this documentary-in-development that follows the lives of a pair of osprey that have nested in Greenwich Harbor for 10+ years. Food, drink and music will add to the fun. Supporters of the film project will be mentioned in the film credits and receive special gifts. All ages welcome.
