A Friendship in Music February 9 @ 3 pm  Members: $5; Non-Members:$10 If you haven't had the privilege of meeting Fairfield University professor, Orin Grossman, and being a part of his incredibly entertaining musical lectures, you will want to be at the Fairfield Museum this Sunday.  As part of the Adult Lecture Series, sponsored by Fairfield University, Orin will trace the influential friendship between Leonard Bernstein and Aaron Copland, with live accompaniment of their early collaborations. This program is part of the Fairfield's Rockin Top Ten exhibition, generously sponsored by First Niagara, on view through April 28th.   Before the performance, enjoy a docent led gallery tour of our new exhibition, Creating Community: Exploring 375 Years of Our Past.

Pequot Library honors town of FAIRFIELD'S 375th anniversary and its own celebration of 125 years by inviting the toWn to a free concert by classical PIANIST, Dalia Lazar.   Sunday, February 9, 2014, from 4:00pm - 5:00pm, award-winning local pianist, Dalia Lazar, will delight the public in this free concert, open to everyone. The concert is made possible by the generosity of Dalia Lazar. It is one of Pequot Library's gifts to the community to acknowledge the Town of Fairfield's 375th Anniversary, during Pequot's own year-long 125th anniversary celebration of Pequot Library. The classical music program includes works by Beethoven, Schumann, and Rachmaninov. Born in Croatia, Dalia Lazar began studying piano at an early age. Immediately after her graduation at the Moscow Conservatory, Ms. Lazar decided to continue her career in New York and London where she studied with Karl Urlich Schnabel and Maria Curcio. As a finalist in New York Concert Artist Guild Competition, Ms Lazar made her New York debut at Rubenstein Hall, followed by her Carnegie Recital Hall debut later that year. Since then she has performed a broad repertoire as a soloist in concerts and recitals worldwide, including the United States, Russia, Venezuela, Israel, Switzerland, Croatia, Mexico and Romania.  Her chamber music repertoire includes the works for violin and piano duo and piano trio, which she performed extensively with her late husband, violinist Lucian Lazar. Her recent CD includes works by Schumann and Chopin. Check the website for further information.
