Sundays, September 14 – October 5, 10 am – 3:30 pm Support local farmers and explore the SM&NC through hands-on activities and crafts. Our Sunday Farm Market runs through October 5 and will be the center of our Sunday programs. Participate in a self-guided craft on the Meadow, see oxen and goat demonstrations, and watch our North American River Otters — Bert and Edie — receive their lunch. At 1:30 pm, join us for a chance to “Follow Your Food” as we learn where some of our favorite foods come from through live animal visits and cooking experiences. Get an SM&NC Farm Journal and solve the Mystery Food of the Week, where we’ll learn about an ingredient featured at the market. All programs will meet on the Meadow. Attending these programs allows visitors to live vicariously through our experts, who often have had incredible close encounters with creatures across the globe. Sam Fried spent a week in Churchill, Manitoba, expecting to see ice, snow, bears and winter birds. It turned out differently than planned, leading to a lot of questions and not many good answers. What happens to the polar bears of Hudson Bay when the bay doesn't freeze on time? And what happens to the birds that are migrating in and out of Churchill. Join us for an evening of spectacular photos, some answers and more questions. $5 suggested donation. Refreshments will be served. Location: Hanson Exploration Station.
