The BIG INK will be demonstrating large scale woodcut printing from 10 am - 5 pm, both days, outside CCP. The rain or shine event is free and open to the public. The BIG INK is debuting a mobile 48" x 96" printmaking press, dubbed "The Big Tuna," at CCP. Twelve artists from Connecticut, New York, and as far away as Michigan and California are currently carving larger-than-life woodblocks to be printed throughout the day.

Wilton Historical Society Exploration and Exchange Celebrating Columbus Day Workshop for Kids

11 am - 12:30 pm.  Using Columbus Day as a departure point, this workshop will focus on "Exploration, Encounter, Exchange in History" the National History Day theme for 2016. Kids will learn about the exchange of ideas and goods around the globe, the evolution of maps and their impact on the world, and the Spice Trade. The workshop project is a globe-shaped paperweight filled with spices such as star anise, nutmeg and pepper. Kids will also help make their snack, a spice shortcake.Members $10 per child,

WestonArts ‘Open Studios Art Tour October 8

11 to 5 pm. Tour private studio of artists that live in this lovely community. The tour begins at 11am at Weston Town Hall where participants can check in, purchase tickets $10 per person (children under 12 are free) and receive their map and catalogue with addresses for the open studios of nine of Weston's fine artists. Visitors are invited to drive at their own pace to the studios where each artist will be on hand to discuss their techniques and their art. In addition to meeting these nationally recognized artists, visitors will have the opportunity to purchase art directly from the studios.

Each year the Bruce Museum sponsors two outdoor festivals that feature original work by some of the best artists and craftspeople from around the country. October 8 and 9, 2016: Large Woodcut Print Sessions--CCP is partnering with the BIG INK for two days of large woodcut printing with CCP's 39" x 72" etching press to pull prints on Saturday and Sunday October 8th - 9th, 2016. Artists are invited to submit a proposal to create a woodcut, at least 24" x 36" in dimension, before July 25th, 2016.
