Dr. Kenneth Silver, Professor of Art History, New York University, Adjunct Curator of Art, Bruce Museum.The Hascoe Lecture Series for fall 2012 will explore the art of early twentieth-century French sculptor Gaston Lachaise in context: his sources, esthetic strategies, and innovations, as well as the impact of his extraordinary work on his contemporaries and followers. A Day in the Life of a Connecticut Civil War Soldier 27th Connecticut Volunteer Infantry at the Norwalk Public Library - Lincoln, the Constitution and the Civil War

Civil War re-enactor Julius (Jay) W. Hull Jr. will represent the 27th Connecticut Volunteer Infantry, demonstrating the daily routine, clothing, equipment, and weapons of soldiers in the nation’s biggest single crisis, at the Norwalk Public Library, One Belden Avenue, Saturday, December 8, 2012, 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. This program is presented in partnership with Norwalk Community College’s regional series of events and exhibitions focusing on Lincoln, the Constitution, and the Civil War. The 27th Connecticut Volunteer Infantry was a Connecticut Civil War unit drawn from the New Haven area. Mr. Hull, a retired sergeant from the Fairfield Police Department, has been reenacting the Civil War for the past 18 years. He will be in full corporal uniform, from forage cap to brogans. A question and answer session will take place after the demonstration.This event is free and open to the public. he event will be held in the auditorium.
