Wine and other refreshments will be served during the "Coffee House at The Wheeler's," Friday, June 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the society's Sheffer Gallery. Sheridan, an award-winning Westport songwriter who is also a professional portrait photographer, will mix her own compositions with songs from her CD "Suzanne Sheridan Sings Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen." The CD, which includes Mitchell's "Chelsea Morning" and "Big Yellow Taxi" and Cohen's "Hallelujah," was recorded live at the Westport Unitarian Church's Voice Café.  A $10 donation will be requested at the door for "Coffee House at The Wheeler's," and reservations are required.

The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk opens its backstage spaces for a rare behind-the-scenes tour. Conducted before the Aquarium opens, from 8:15 to 10 a.m., the guided tour offers unique opportunities to see how the animal-husbandry staff meets the varying food and water needs of some 2,000 resident animals. The tour includes stops at the Aquarium's "fish kitchen," where 18 tons of fish a year is prepared, and above the 110,000-gallon Open Ocean tank, where the dorsal fins of 8-foot sand tiger sharks cut through the water surface. Learn the delicate requirements of a jellyfish "nursery." Participants must be at least 10 years old; under 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Cost is $25 ($22.50 for Aquarium members). The tour is limited to 25 people, so reservations are strongly recommended. Walk-up tickets will be sold, space permitting.

Annual Vintage Vehicles Antique & Classic Car Show at the Shelton History Center

Enjoy a day with Dad and Granddad peeking under the hoods of the cars they remember from their youth at the Shelton Historical Society’s Vintage Vehicles Antique and Classic Car Show on Father’s Day, June 16.  Two wheels or four, from Model T’s to muscle cars, there’s bound to be something that will trigger a memory from every visitor.  The event will take place at Shelton History Center, 70 Ripton Rd. from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. This year’s show is being held in honor of Clarence “Cleve” Curtiss whose 1929 Ford was always a hit at many area car shows.  All vehicle owners  generously share information, their cars, and their hobby with the public.   Sponsors of this year’s show include Christine Carlson, CT Car Storage, Curtiss Ryan Honda, D’Addario Auto Group, and The Spruyt Agency.    Entry forms may be found at www.sheltonhistoricalsociety.org or by calling (203) 925-1803.
