Visit our vegetable garden for some self-guided reading, planting or crafting, watch our otters have their lunch, meet one of our farm animals up close, help with a farm chore, explore a barn, join in a cooking project to take home or more. Bring a chair or blanket, your favorite beverage and a light snack (no cooking allowed) and enjoy a relaxing night of great music on the lawn. The Retro Band performs the best, most upbeat dance songs from the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's. They play Beatles, Elvis Presley, Motown, Rock, and other styles. The instrumentation includes vocals, guitar, sax, bass and drums. Members $5,non-members $10. Children under 12 are free. Go back in time and learn about life in historic Wilton. Campers will have the opportunity to learn about Colonial America, through historic artifacts and hand-on activities. Each session will consist of different activities including crafts, trades, and games. A snack will be provided daily. There is a limit of 12 campers per session. Camp is led by a certified teacher and three assistants.  9am-12:30 pm Monday-Friday. Cost per child per session: $225 members | $250 non-members.

Assemble salt water aquariums, add snails, oysters, crabs and other mystery creatures each day. Conduct experiments and learn how each species adapts to its environment. Construct wire fish sculptures and sculpt clay critters. Paint beachscapes and play lots of outdoor games.

Mondays & Wednesdays, July 15 - August 14, 2:30 pm (weather permitting) Do you ever wonder what it takes to be a farmer? Come by and discover what it takes to be a farmer on Heckscher Farm. Farm staff each week will pick an activity to show the diversity of farm life and how we care for our animals and the environment. We will be conducting hands-on programs for all ages. Programs will include milking, grooming, caring for baby animals, and more. Program will last 30-45 minutes. Members: Free | Non-Members: Free with gate admission. 


Beardsley Zoo - Evening Lecture Series: Through the Eyes of Africa

7:00pm - 8:00pm. Meet Dr. Jay Walshon, who has written a series of EYE SEE YOU children's books featuring amazing photos from his many trips that take the reader on an African "who am I" journey. The wonderful images, riddles, and rhymes create a unique game for children, and for the child in all of us. Dr. Walshon's books instill an intimate appreciation of nature, promote a love of animals, encourage the exploration of foreign lands, and introduce the beauty of photography by interconnecting the innocents of the world - our children and the animals who share our planet. $5 suggested donation. Refreshments will be served. This lecture, taking place in the Hanson Exploration Station, is part of the Evening Lecture Series, sponsored by Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo Volunteer Association.

6:00 p.m. Classic Car Show 7:00 p.m. The Royal Kings -- features vocalists Joey Bennett, Douglas Dorsey, Timmy Hayes, Tommy Talercio and Richard "Cookie" Thomas. These performers have opened for headlining acts from the 50s, 60s and 70s that include Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, Little Anthony, AWB and the Flamingos. They continue to perform on the Oldies Rock and Roll circuit, as well as concerts and special events, and have two CDs, "Dreamin' Through the Years" and "Dreamin' at Christmas." Each Wednesday night throughout the summer, area residents look forward to packing a picnic and a blanket and heading to the beach to enjoy a relaxing evening of music beside Long Island Sound.
