Public space must be designed for the needs of the people who will use them. She will show the befores and afters of various different projects around the city, how they are funded, and what effects they have had on city life in New York. Well-designed and well-maintained parks also contribute to economic growth in surrounding neighborhoods, providing tax benefits, encouraging tourism, and reducing crime. Director of the Conservatory Garden in Central Park, Mrs. Miller has designed many public gardens and parks in New York City as well as gardens at the New York Botanical Garden and several university campuses.  As a painter and garden designer, Mrs. Miller brings an artistic perspective to garden design.
