Saturdays July 25 - August 22, 12:30 - 1 pm. Ever wonder what lizards like for lunch? Discover the many things our animals like to eat by helping to feed them. Help prepare salads for the tortoises, lizards, and the other fruit and veggie-loving friends in Heckscher WILD! Space for this program is limited to 20 children, ages 5 and up. Interested participants can sign up for a space, as available, in Heckscher WILD! any time after 10 AM each Saturday. Space is first-come, first served. Explore the SM&NC in a NUMBER of ways and celebrate the newest exhibition, Nature's Numbers, with our annual fantastic family summer campout! Bring your family to meet ours and visit with our herds, flocks, and other animal groups. Get a special behind-the-scenes chance to explore Heckscher WILD!, our newest animal exhibit, and see the nocturnal animals as they wake up for the night. Look through our giant telescope to see a half-million stars and roast S'mores over the campfire! Test your skills with a number-based scavenger hunt and have an after-hours tour of the Museum Galleries. Enjoy your morning with nature bingo while your breakfast is prepared and discover why SM&NC is NUMBER 1!  All meals are included. Enrollment is limited. Sundays, July 26 through October 11, 10am – 2pm Many of the previous vendors are returning and we've added some new vendors to offer a wider variety of items. We'll be selling our very own farm-fresh eggs from our chickens on Heckscher Farm, maple syrup made in our own Maple Sugar House, and wool from our sheep. There will be weekly farm-related family activities with our "Market Madness" program led by one of our environmental educators. Additionally, a different food truck will be on site each week to allow visitors a chance to purchase lunch to enjoy at one of our picnic tables by the Bendel Pond. Farm staff each week will pick an activity to show the diversity of farm life and how we care for our animals and the environment. We will be conducting hands-on programs for all ages. Programs will include milking, grooming, caring for baby animals, and more. Program will last 30-45 minutes.
