On Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. We're thrilled to bring back the SM&NC Friday Farm Market and have made some exciting new changes for this year. First, we're moving the Farm Market location to our lovely Meadow. We've also added some new exciting vendors to offer a larger variety of items and we'll also have a wood burning pizza truck so you can hang around and have lunch at one of our picnic tables by the Bendel Pond. New Canaan Nature Center Hosts Farewell to Summer Night Hike on Friday, August 24 from7:30pm - 9:00pm.  All ages. $6/members, $10/non-members. Fairfield Museum Offers Tour of Powder House c1814

On  Sunday, August 26, 2012 at 2pm a Free tour of the Powerhouse will be offered by the Fairfield Museum. Light refreshments to follow at the Fairfield Museum and History Center. Meet at the Powder House, behind Tomlinson Middle School at 2 pm. Take a tour of the Powderhouse and learn about the role of Fort Union and Fort Defense with Betty Oderwald, president of the U.S. Daughters of 1812, CT Chapter. The Powderhouse was built in 1814 is to store ammunition in case of British attacks. Following this half hour talk, participants will reassemble on the Town Green at 2:45pm to learn more about the joyous celebration of peace following the end of the War of 1812. Tour and refreshments will follow at the Old Academy. The Fairfield Museum will be open for participants to view the War of 1812 paintings on display. The Powderhouse is located behind Tomlinson Middle School, signs will show visitors where to park.
