5K Race / Walk and Kids' Fun Run – 2015-- Join us for Where the Wild Things Run 5K Trail Run/Walk and Kids' Fun Run
Sunday October 18, 2015. Come to Woodcock Nature Center for the annual "Where the Wild Things Run" 5K and Kids Fun Run.
The 5K course is almost entirely run on our trails for more fun and adventure. It will be approximately 90% trail with a mix of groomed trails, rugged trails and narrow bridges/boardwalks. The challenging terrain will highlight the diversity and beauty of our property. Runners, joggers and walkers of all ages are welcome. This trail is NOT stroller friendly. The Kids Fun Run course remains the same as previous years. This is a fun course appropriate for all ages. Parents are welcome to accompany their children.

On October 19 through October 22, 2015 the Weir Farm National Historic Site announces the 2015 Weir Art Farm Academy schedule in partnership with Dmitri Wright, the park's Master Artist/Instructor. Weir Farm Art Academy students will learn to apply the methods used by the Impressionists to their work - capturing nature, in nature. Through Dmitri's multi-dimensional teaching methods and unique 'Preservation and Progress Model', each student will develop their own personal brand or style of Impressionism. By applying the techniques and philosophy of the Impressionists, both science and poetry, students will experience the Impressionist tradition in a landscape that has inspired artists for over 130 years. There is a fee to participate (see below). Weir Farm Art Academy workshops are open to all levels from beginners to advanced. The popular fall lecture series returns to the Silvermine Arts Center in New Canaan with two very exciting lectures featuring Silvermine Guild Artist and Faculty member, David Dunlop and Silvermine Faculty member, Dmitri Wright. On October 20th, David Dunlop will present "Where are Pictures From?" and on November 3rd, "The Science and Poetry of Impressionism: Ideas for Contemporary Impressionist Painters," will be presented by Dmitri Wright. Both lectures will be held in the Sara Victoria Hall Auditorium at 4:30pm.
