The New Canaan Preservation Alliance and the New Canaan Historical Society will hold a special workshop on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 9:30AM at the Historical Society.  The formal program will be held from 10AM to 12 Noon.  Speakers include owners and architects of restored properties, along with Wes Haynes, a well-known consultant who works with the CT Trust for Historic Preservation.  Workshop cost 15 per person.  Preregistration is suggested.  Following a lunch break there will be partial tours of the featured homes.

12 a.m. Founded in 1972, the Heida Hermanns International Music Competition is held annually in Connecticut and showcases exceptional musicians from around the world. Competitions are held each year on a rotating basis in piano, voice and strings. Winners take home cash prizes, are given performance opportunities and achieve professional recognition. The live Semi-Final Rounds will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2015 from 10AM – 6PM at First Church Fairfield in Fairfield, Connecticut.The Semi-Finals will feature up to 18 pianists, each performing for approximately 20 minutes. Saturday is free and open to the public; you may come and go all day! Six Finalists will perform on Sunday afternoon, beginning at 2PM. Tickets for the Finals are $25 each and include an informal reception while the judges deliberate.
