Discovery Museum - Women's History Month Celebration

Saturday March 23, 2013, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. In honor of Women’s History Month, the Museum will proudly host a day event that focuses on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) initiatives. We are reaching out to professional women who have careers in these disciplines who will share their stories. Visitors will get to meet these dynamic women and engage them in conversation about career opportunities for women in their fields. We will provide tote bags for visitors to collect souvenir items given away by the presenters. Admission to the Museum will be free this day and we anticipate welcoming hundreds of visitors to celebrate this important event; the 2012 event attracted more than 400 visitors.

Celebrate the publication of “Amulets and Talismans” by Faculty and Guild Artist member Robert Dancik. An artist/teacher for more than 30 years, Dancik holds a Masters degree in sculpture from Northern Illinois University and a BA in fine art from Adelphi University. He has taught people from kindergarten to graduate school, while exhibiting his jewelry and sculpture in museums and galleries across the U.S. and abroad. An exhibition of his artwork will be on display in the Anne Connell Student Gallery. A portion of the book sales will be donated to the Silvermine Scholarship Fund.
