On June 18, the Westport Historical Society will host a guided walk through the park-like Haskins Preserve, a former estate remarkable for its collection of non-native trees from China and Japan. The walk begins at 3 p.m. at the former Green Acre Lane, off Compo Road South, estate of Caryl and Edna Haskins, scientists who traveled the world doing field work in ant biology and brought back specimen trees. The walk will be preceded by a 30-minute Qi Gong class given by Sue Gold, the Society's executive director. Qi Gong, Gold explains means "energy work" and is a practice of simple postures and fluid exercises that help you stay flexible, calm, more centered and more in touch with yourself. Stamford - THE RIDE For Our Vets

THE RIDE attracts a mix of veterans, corporate teams, local cycling clubs, and ordinary cyclists who want to ride in support of veterans. Organizers anticipate more than 100 cyclists will participate this year. Cyclists can choose from 25, 50, and 100 mile routes, starting and ending at Point72's Stamford headquarters at 72 Cummings Point Road, and there will also be a familyfriendly
5K ride and walk. Cyclists must raise a minimum of $200. There is no registration fee or fundraising minimum for
