6pm Reception, 6:30pm Lecture/Q&A/Book Signing Thoreau's Wildflowers, edited by Geoff Wisner with over 200 illustrations by renowned artist Barry Moser, is a selection of Thoreau's best flower writings, arranged by day of the year and accompanied by Thoreau's philosophical speculations and observations of the weather and other plants and animals.
Beginning with the first entry, dated March 4, and continuing through the seasons up to the last entry, dated February 28, Thoreau's writings illuminate the author's spirituality, his belief in nature's correspondence with the human soul, and his sense that anticipation-of spring, of flowers yet to bloom-renews our connection with the earth and with immortality.
Thoreau's Wildflowers will be indispensable not only for naturalists, gardeners, and readers of Thoreau, but also for art lovers, reintroducing the early work of a master to a new audience. $25 Admission for one and a signed copy of the book, $35 Admission for two and one signed copy of the book; $10 General Admission.
