Westport Historical Society Kings Highway North Historic District Walking Tour

3:00 pm - 4:00 pm Edward F. Gerber, Past President of the Historical Society, will host a walking tour of the Kings Highway North Historic District. The tour will be an opportunity for history buffs to learn about one of the town's oldest settled areas, some homes of which date to the mid-1700s. Meet across from the cemeteries at the foot of Old Hill Road; park along Kings Highway North. 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Every month, the Colonial Cookery and Customs for Kids workshop at the Wilton Historical Society teaches kids in grades 4 – 8 a Colonial "reciept" (recipe) used in the Connecticut region. 2 pm - 3 pm. Amalia Suryani – Indonesian Dance: West Sumatran. Artist Bio: Amalia Suriyani was born in Jakarta, Indonesia and graduated from the University of Indonesia, Jakarkta in 2002. Her dance training includes Guruh Sukarno Putra, Liga Tari, Tapanuli Dance Workshop and Gumarang Sakti Contemporary Dance Workshop, all in Jakarta. She has performed throughout Indonesia as well as in Europe and the US. She established Saung Budaya Indonesian Group in 2005 in NYC. With the support of the Indonesian Consulate, Saung Budaya grew and is now a vital part of the Indonesian community in New York. Saung Buday brings Indonesia's culture to us through dance and music. Victorian Splendor: The Homes, Churches and Monuments of Norwalk’s Gilded Age

The tour will take place onSunday, September 25th from 12:30 to 5pm with reenactors who will revive the late 19th century's atmosphere. There will be four stops along the way, with refreshments served at theLockwood-Mathews Mansion, at the end of the tour. You can purchase your ticket, for a ride back to the past, for $55 until September 15th, or $65 after this date.
