The Student Exhibition showcases the artistic achievements of the Silvermine School of Art students of all ages, from youth to adult. This event provides students the opportunity to share their accomplishments with one another and offers the general public a view of the fine art and creative energy that is generated by the student body. Awards are given in Adult, Youth and Junior Artist categories for painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture, ceramics and silversmithing/jewelry design. This year’s juror is Nathan Lewis, Assistant Professor of Art at Sacred Heart University. GALLERY HOURS: Wednesday – Saturday: 12p.m. – 5 pm; Sunday: 1pm – 5pm

The  2012 Free Summer Concert Series in Norwalk begins on June 27, 2012 at 6PM.  A Classic Car Show will gather over 100 vehicles hosted by the Coachmen Rod and Custom Club.  Owners of 1981 and older cars can participate in the show which attract owners from thoughout the tri-state area.  At 7PM The Sixties Show--North America's number one rated 1960s' musical tribute act features former members of the touring company from the smash hit Broadway musical Beatlemania.  Check the website for further information.

Start by enjoying a presentation on the history of astronomy, followed by a visit to view the night sky through a 22-inch research telescope. Introduction to Paper Lithography at Contemporary Center for Printmaking

Saturday, 10 am - 4 pm. $110 members, $125 non-members, plus $20 studio fee. Open to 8 participants, all levels. Explore the capabilities of the copier machine in this easy, exciting way to produce a lithograph. Participants learn ways to develop imagery on a copier, mix inks, ink and wipe paper plates to create excellent image transfers from a paper matrix. Paper lithography is a planographic printmaking process, relying on the separation of water and oil. The matrix or printing plate is standard copy paper. The capabilities of the copy machine will be explored by using drawings, photographs, and sketchbook imagery to create plates.
