This summer's sale boasts a solid collection of many hundreds of high quality jazz CDs available in the Media Tent. Interesting ephemera such as post-WWll sheet music, circa 1928, coveted by collectors, musicians, music teachers, and even collage artists and illustrators will be for sale. In addition there will be over 140,000 other books, CDs, DVDs, and records in over 60 categories. Admission is free and open to the public. New this year will be an Eclectic Print and Art Sale, Friday, July 22 - Sunday, July 24, 2016. An amazing collection of 1,700 prints, original photographs, and art will be for sale. Parking: In Pequot Library's parking lot, or the Trinity Episcopal Church* parking lot (on the corner of Pequot Avenue and Center Street), or in the Southport Congregational Church parking lot (524 Pequot Avenue and across from church) or, on the weekend, in the train station parking lot (400 Center Street).

Flora and Fauna at the Bruce Museum

Flora and Fauna brings together a selection of Anderson's large-scale botanical illustrations for which she is best-known and life-size scratchboard illustrations of birds. The three-foot tall, black-and-white images are striking, meticulously drawn from life in exacting detail. Two new pieces created for this show spotlight mounted birds selected from the Bruce Museum collection -- a red-breasted merganser and a barred owl. Hours are Tuesday to Sunday, 10 am – 5 pm.

Bruce Museum Scratchboard Workshop

1- 2:30 pm. Artist Francesca Anderson will lead families in this hands-on workshop while speaking about how she captures natural history in her illustrations of plants and wildlife. Families will have the opportunity create their own sketches and scratchboard drawings inspired by the exhibition, Flora and Fauna: Drawings by Francesca Anderson on view until October 30th, while using taxidermy specimens from the Museum's collection. This program, recommended for families with children aged eight and up, is free and registration is required. Please register at by July 21, 2016.

Bruce Museum Family Gallery Tour & Electric Paris Family Day

11:30 am - 12:15 pm. Designed for families with children ages 6-10. These tours, led by a Museum educator, provide an interactive, discussion-based exploration of the Museum's current exhibitons. Free with admission; no registration required. 1 pm - 4 pm. There will be fun family activities inspired by the museum's current Electric Paris exhibition and a performance by a special guest. This event is free with museum admission.

Cruise @ Historic Black Rock Harbor Captain's Cove Westport Historical Society

In the 18th century, the historic harbor, now known as Captain's Cove was used as a trade port and shipbuilding center. Limited space! Tickets are $20 for members and $25 for non-members. The price of our ticket includes the guided tour of the historic house and boat tour plus light refreshments.
