Wesley Village is proud to host the fifth annual benefit 5K Road Race on Saturday August 24 starting at 9 a.m. The 3.1 mile race will begin and end at Wesley Village in the parking lot for Crosby Commons at 580 Long Hill Avenue in Shelton. There is a fun walk that takes place around the campus of Wesley Village. This year marks the first year for a kids fun run which begins at 8:30 a.m. and costs $5 per child under age 13. There will be a bounce house for the kids to enjoy as well.

Center for Contemporary Printmaking - The Art of Bookbinding—Introduction to Coptic Stitching

This 2-day weekend workshop, with Cathy Paine, meets from 10 am to 4 pm each day and is open to 10 participants. All levels, beginners and experienced bookbinders are welcome. *Please note: A $30 materials fee is payable directly to the instructor by each participant. Coptic binding is a non-adhesive, hand-sewn book binding method. All the signatures and covers are bound together with a connected stitch leaving the book's bound spine visible. The stitching resembles chain stitching used in embroidery and creates a beautiful pattern on the binding. There are many stitch variations, one of which will be taught in this workshop.

This 2-day workshop, with Christopher Shore, takes place from 10 am to 4 pm each day and is open to 8 participants. All levels welcome. Explore both watercolor and aquarelle crayon monotypes utilizing screenprinting techniques. Artists create unique prints as well explore the layering possibilities of overprinting on drawings, prints, or other media. Other basic silkscreen techniques are introduced, such as color blends, ghost printing and simple registration techniques.
